               2024  marks the ninth summer of Plein Air Portugal

​

Plein Air Portugal is designed for artists who have experience, or desire to learn landscape painting.  Situated in the rugged and rural Northern Portugal, Travanca do Monte is located east of Porto and close to the Douro River Valley.  The great character of Travanca do Monte and Casa de Levada, where we stay, offers artists the chance to work independently or engage in instruction.  Peer critiques, shared studio space combined with the unique architecture and friendly community provide an unforgettable opportunity for newly inspired creativity.

Casa da Levada, is an historic posada that has been in the Mota family for more than 300 years.   Located in the hamlet of Travanca do Monte, it is about a 20 minute drive from Amarante, a beautiful, historic city on the banks of the Tamega river.
